Fleetwood Discovery RVs For Sale
Fleetwood Discovery Class A diesel pusher motorhomes for sale at Motor Home Specialist, the #1 Volume Selling Motor Home Dealer in the World and a full-line Fleetwood RV dealer.
The Discovery is Fleetwood's entry into the Class A diesel motorhome segment and one of the brand's flagship luxury RVs. It gives buyers a Freightliner® Custom Chassis with the Freedom Bridge® foundation, a Cummins® diesel engine, full hand-laid porcelain tile flooring with heated tile in the living area, and a residential interior treatment without crossing into the upper-tier pricing of the Discovery LXE. It's a strong fit for owners stepping up from Fleetwood's Class A gas Bounder or other gas coaches, snowbirds running annual loops who want diesel torque for mountain passes, and buyers who want a true diesel pusher under 41 feet.
The Discovery is built on the Freightliner® Custom Chassis XCM with the Freedom Bridge® foundation. Power comes from the Cummins® ISB 6.7L diesel engine, rated at 360 horsepower and 800 lb-ft of torque at 1,800 rpm, paired with an Allison® 3000 MH 6-speed transmission and a Delco Remy 160-amp alternator. The 38K and 38N share a 252-inch wheelbase, while the 38W stretches to 263 inches. Every current model year floor plan carries a 12,600-pound front axle, a 21,000-pound rear axle, a 43,600-pound GCWR, a 10,000-pound trailer hitch, and a 100-gallon fuel tank. Chassis-side standard equipment includes the V-Series suspension system with the VFS front suspension, V-Ride™ Technology for enhanced ride stability, Freightliner® BrakeSync, and tire pressure monitoring.
Climate control comes from three 15,000 BTU roof A/C units with a rear heat pump and an Aqua Hot 400D system for unlimited hot water and even interior heat without recovery time. Full hand-laid porcelain tile flooring runs throughout the coach, with heated tile in the living area. Safe-T-View routes the side-view and backup camera feeds onto the interior televisions so they double as a driving aid when the coach is in motion.
Standard for 2027, the Discovery includes the MultiPlex house control system (lighting, slides, awning, and other systems controlled from a smartphone or tablet), maintenance-free citadel-lined luggage compartments, a one-piece fiberglass exterior roof for low maintenance and long-lasting durability, and residential-style furniture by Apex Custom Furniture. Black hardware is standard, with chrome hardware available as a factory option. New for MY27, doors and drawers have been redesigned, and a new pivot door has been added at the mid-bath. Collision Mitigation by MobileEye is available through the optional Technology Package, which also bundles a 330-watt solar panel, a Wi-Fi Extender Pro Pack with LTE, a cell signal booster, and the FireFly Eclipse module for remote app access via Wi-Fi. Starlink Satellite is available as a separate factory option.
On the outside, the 2027 Discovery debuts eight all-new exterior paint packages: Alloy, Calais, Lakeshore, Lunara, Solara, Stillwater, Veloura, and Vespyr. Every floor plan also includes an 18-foot patio awning, an exterior entertainment center, and generous pass-through luggage storage.
The cabin features hand-laid porcelain tile flooring throughout, residential-style sofas by Apex Custom Furniture, and three décor packages: Amaretto, Anthology, and Oasis (new for MY27). Cabinet finishes include Heritage (accent wood), Hazelnut, Sedona, and the new Heritage & Sedona and Heritage & Hazelnut accent wood combinations. A Motion Power Lounge is available as a factory option in place of the standard jackknife sofa, and a Hide-A-Loft™ electric drop-down bed over the cab can be added at the factory on any floor plan.
The galley includes a residential refrigerator with ice and water in the door, a 240V induction cooktop, a convection microwave, and a pantry. Flip-up galley top extension is standard on the 38K and pull-out galley top extension is standard on the 38W. A dishwasher is available as a factory option. Dinette options vary by floor plan: the 38K can be ordered with a Dream Dinette or a free-standing dinette with credenza, the 38N can be ordered with an L-shaped dinette or a free-standing dinette with credenza, and the 38W can be ordered with a mid-ship LED TV configuration or a Dream Dinette.
For sleeping, every Discovery floor plan carries an Encore Series king bed (72 by 80 inches) in the rear master with wardrobes flanking each side, a dresser, and a step-up master bath with a 50-by-28-inch shower with a built-in seat. The 38W adds his-and-hers sinks in the master bath. The 38N is the dedicated bunk floor plan, with convertible bunk beds (28 by 73 inches) behind barn doors that hold the kids during travel and convert to additional storage when not needed. The new-for-MY27 38K carries the largest sleeping configuration in the lineup, with the standard U-shaped dinette, jackknife sofa, and optional Hide-A-Loft drop-down bed bringing total sleeping capacity to eight.
Motor Home Specialist stocks the Discovery in four floor plans, including the three 2027 model year units and a used 40G in pre-owned inventory: the 38K, a 38-foot 8-inch coach with a U-shaped dinette and the largest sleeping capacity in the lineup; the 38N, a 38-foot 8-inch coach with convertible bunk beds for families; the 38W, a 40-foot 1-inch coach with his-and-hers bath sinks, sofa sleeper, and pull-out galley extension; and the 40G, a used Discovery from an earlier model year. Contact an MHSRV salesperson for the year, mileage, and feature list on any used 40G currently on the lot.

Fleetwood Discovery FAQs
What is the Fleetwood Discovery?
The Fleetwood Discovery is a Class A diesel pusher motorhome built on a Freightliner® Custom Chassis XCM with the Freedom Bridge® foundation and a Cummins® ISB 6.7L diesel engine. It serves as Fleetwood's entry point into the Class A diesel pusher segment, with full hand-laid porcelain tile flooring, Aqua Hot 400D climate control, residential furniture from Apex Custom Furniture, and an Encore Series king bed standard on every floor plan. Fleetwood builds the 2027 Discovery in three floor plans, and Motor Home Specialist stocks the 38K, 38N, 38W, and a used 40G from a prior model year.
What chassis is the Discovery built on?
The Discovery is built on the Freightliner® Custom Chassis XCM with the Freedom Bridge® foundation, the Cummins® ISB 6.7L diesel engine rated at 360 horsepower and 800 lb-ft of torque at 1,800 rpm, an Allison® 3000 MH 6-speed transmission, and a Delco Remy 160-amp alternator. The 38K and 38N share a 252-inch wheelbase, and the 38W stretches to 263 inches. Every current model year floor plan carries a 12,600-pound front axle, a 21,000-pound rear axle, a 43,600-pound GCWR, a 10,000-pound trailer hitch, and a 100-gallon fuel tank. The V-Series suspension with VFS front suspension, V-Ride™ Technology, Freightliner® BrakeSync, and tire pressure monitoring are all standard.
Is the Discovery a diesel pusher?
Yes. The Discovery is a Class A diesel pusher motorhome, with the Cummins® ISB 6.7L diesel engine mounted at the rear of the coach over the drive axle. Diesel pusher coaches typically offer a quieter cabin than front-engine layouts, better weight distribution for ride and handling, and higher towing capacity than typical Class A or Class C gas motorhomes, all of which apply to the Discovery's Freightliner® XCM chassis.
How much can the Discovery tow?
Every current model year Discovery floor plan comes with a 10,000-pound trailer hitch and a 1,000-pound tongue weight rating, which covers most tow-behind passenger vehicles owners use as a dinghy, including full-size SUVs and trucks. Towing capacity on prior model year units may vary, so confirm with your salesperson when shopping the used 40G.
What floor plans does the Discovery come in?
Fleetwood builds the 2027 Discovery in three floor plans: 38K, 38N, and 38W. Motor Home Specialist stocks all three current model year floor plans along with a used 40G from a prior Discovery model year. The 38K is a 38-foot 8-inch coach with a U-shaped dinette and the largest sleeping configuration in the lineup; the 38N is a 38-foot 8-inch coach with convertible bunk beds; the 38W is a 40-foot 1-inch coach with his-and-hers bath sinks and a sofa sleeper; and the 40G is a used unit from an earlier Discovery model year. Confirm year, mileage, and configuration on the 40G directly with an MHSRV salesperson.
Does the Discovery come in a bunk model floor plan?
Yes. The Discovery 38N is a dedicated bunk floor plan, with convertible bunk beds (28 by 73 inches) behind barn doors at the rear of the coach. The bunks fold away when not needed, so the space stays useful after the kids outgrow them. The 38N also includes a sofa sleeper with twin mattress and the standard Encore Series king bed in the rear master. Motor Home Specialist stocks the 38N alongside the 38K, the 38W, and a used 40G.
Does the Discovery come with solar?
A 330-watt solar panel is available on the 2027 Discovery as part of the optional Technology Package, which also adds a Wi-Fi Extender Pro Pack with LTE, a cell signal booster, Collision Mitigation by MobileEye, and the FireFly Eclipse module for remote app access via Wi-Fi. The Technology Package is a factory option, not standard equipment. Solar configuration on prior model year units may differ.
Does the Discovery come with safety features like adaptive cruise control?
Collision Mitigation by MobileEye is available on the 2027 Discovery as part of the optional Technology Package. The Discovery also includes Safe-T-View as standard equipment, which routes the side-view and backup camera feeds onto the interior televisions so the driver can monitor surroundings without taking eyes off the road. The Freightliner® chassis also includes BrakeSync and tire pressure monitoring as standard equipment.
What is the difference between the Discovery and the Bounder?
Both the Discovery and the Bounder are Fleetwood Class A motorhomes, but the Discovery is a diesel pusher and the Bounder is a gas coach. The Discovery is built on a Freightliner® Custom Chassis XCM with the Freedom Bridge® foundation, the Cummins® ISB 6.7L diesel engine (360 horsepower, 800 lb-ft torque), an Allison® 3000 MH 6-speed transmission, and a 43,600-pound GCWR. The Bounder is built on the Ford® F-53 chassis with the Power Platform foundation, the Ford® 7.3L Triton® V8 gas engine (335 horsepower, 468 lb-ft torque), a Ford® 6-speed automatic, and a 26,000-pound or 30,000-pound GCWR depending on floor plan. The Discovery's hitch rating is 10,000 pounds versus the Bounder's 8,000 pounds. The Discovery also adds Aqua Hot 400D for hot water and interior heat, three roof A/C units with rear heat pump, hand-laid porcelain tile flooring with heated tile in the living area, and an Encore Series king bed (72 by 80 inches) standard on every floor plan versus the Bounder's Serenity Series king (72 by 75 inches). The Discovery sits in Fleetwood's diesel pusher segment, while the Bounder sits in the gas segment above the entry-level Fortis.
What is the bedroom like in the Discovery?
Every Discovery floor plan carries an Encore Series king bed (72 by 80 inches) in the rear master with wardrobes flanking each side, a dresser, and a step-up master bath with a 50-by-28-inch shower with a built-in seat. The 38W adds his-and-hers sinks in the master bath. All current model year floor plans benefit from full-coach Aqua Hot 400D heat, hand-laid porcelain tile flooring throughout, and the three 15,000 BTU A/C units with rear heat pump for climate control in the bedroom. The used 40G bedroom configuration depends on the original build and should be confirmed with an MHSRV salesperson.
